Halcon Workers Overwhelmingly Vote to Join Teamsters Local 135

10 drivers at Halcon, which transports CSX engineers and conductors, just voted to join the Teamsters in an 8-0 vote with 2 abstentions.

The drivers first started organizing with Local 135 in November to address the company’s atrocious conditions. Drivers cite poverty wages and critical safety concerns, such as vans with expired plates and insurance, broken drivers’ seats, and more. Drivers were concerned not only for their safety but that of their passengers.

“These are strong people that know their rights and have nothing to lose,” said Local 135 Business Agent Anjila Gaudet.

Local 135 has already distributed contract surveys and will begin contract proposal meetings. We’re ready to organize for a strong contract that keeps drivers safe and delivers the wages and benefits Halcon workers deserve.
