Hallcon Drivers Are Fed Up

Date

THE FIGHT FOR FAIR PAY AND WORKING CONDITIONS STARTS NOW: Hallcon drivers across the country are taking a stand. For too long, they’ve been expected to work in dangerous conditions, driving railroad conductors and engineers through hazardous rail yards in vans that barely meet safety standards—if they meet them at all. Dirty vehicles, broken headlights, malfunctioning driver’s seats (so bad they’re using pillows to sit properly), and outdated insurance and registration are just some of the daily realities these workers face.

Enough is enough.

These drivers aren’t just asking for better equipment—they’re demanding it. They’re done cleaning the vans themselves, replacing broken windshield wipers out of their own pockets, and spending weeks or months chasing down missing paychecks. And all of this for a measly $11.75 an hour. It’s insulting, it’s dangerous, and it’s going to stop.

The drivers have had enough of being treated like their work doesn’t matter. They are proud of what they do and the essential role they play in the railroad industry, and they are ready to fight for the respect, pay, and working conditions they deserve. And they’re not alone.

Keith Johnson from Avon is clear about their demands: “We have many needs that must be addressed in our fight for a good contract. Equipment, hours, and pay are just a few. We’re willing to band together to show Hallcon that we mean business. Us drivers coupled with the Teamsters are a winning combination!”

Bill Dortch from Terre Haute knows what a fair contract will mean for everyone involved. “Better wages would help us a great deal. We’d like to have healthcare we can afford. I think if we get a good contract it will help us, Hallcon, and the railroad we work with.”

Mike Newell from Evansville is fed up with broken equipment and low pay. “I would like to see more pay and better working conditions. I would also like to have equipment that works.”

Teamsters Local 135 is fully behind these drivers. The company may think they can keep pushing these workers around, but that ends now. We will not back down, and we will not stop until Hallcon delivers a fair contract.

Dustin Roach, President of Teamsters Local 135, makes it clear. “Teamsters Local 135 stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Hallcon drivers. Their fight is our fight. We are not letting up until these workers get the pay, the conditions, and the respect they’ve earned. Hallcon better be ready because we’re not going away until we win.”

The drivers are ready to fight—and with the full force of the Teamsters behind them, Hallcon is about to learn just how serious these workers are. This fight is just beginning.
