REPUBLIC AIRWAYS
TEAMSTERS
YOUR RIGHT TO
UNION REPRESENTATION
Article 18 of our contract states:
“A Flight Attendant shall be entitled to have a Union representative present at any step of the grievance procedure and at any other such time a Flight Attendant is requested to meet with a member of management where there exists the potential that such meeting may result in disciplinary action being taken against the Flight Attendant.”
You have the right to union representation anytime a conversation with management could lead to discipline. You have the right to talk with your union representative privately before, during and after meetings with management.
If a supervisor requests to speak with you, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Ask if this conversation may lead to disciplinary action.
- Step 2: If the answer is yes, immediately inform the Supervisor that you are requesting a Union Steward.
- Step 3: Do not proceed without a Union Steward present. The supervisor MUST arrange to speak with you and a Union Steward.
Once you receive an official Notification of Meeting with management, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Contact your grievance committee at republicgrievances@gmail.com.
- Step 2: Before meeting with management, get on the same page with your union representative. Share any relevant information management might have that they don’t, and any information you have that management might not.
- Step 3: During the meeting, if at any time you want to talk privately with your steward, simply say “I’d like to talk with my union representative privately.” Management must allow reasonable time for the union to caucus.

The Education Committee is committed to empowering our members by providing them with the knowledge and understanding of their union contract. We strive to educate our members on their rights and benefits; contractual, company and union provided, so that they can advocate for themselves and their families in the workplace. We are particularly interested in reaching out to new members and members who are unfamiliar with their union contract. We believe that education is essential for workers to empower themselves and advocate for their rights. We believe that everyone should have access to information about their union contract, regardless of their background or education level. We believe that workers are more likely to exercise their rights when they understand their union contract.

LGA: Raven McMurray
ORD: Jejuan Murray
PHL: Tina Bardaji
PIT: Johnna Zalmenak

Composition
The duly elected Chief Steward is the head of the FAAB. One Base Steward from each base at Republic Airways will form the FAAB. If Republic increases/decreases bases, this number will be adjusted accordingly. The FAAB positions will be appointed to the current Base Stewards, in agreement with the President of Local 135. In cases where there are multiple Base Stewards, Seniority will decide. In cases of Vacancies, the Chief Steward will appoint the FAAB position. At the beginning of every year, a Base Steward may make known their desire to be on the FAAB by emailing the Chief Steward and the position will automatically transition to them. If multiple Base Stewards wish to be on the FAAB, Seniority will dictate. Junior Base Stewards will take precedence over Senior Base Stewards only when the Senior Base Stewards have already participated on the FAAB.
Duties
The FAAB will meet quarterly with the Executive Board of Local 135. These meetings will offer the FAAB the ability to relay any comments or concerns directly to the decision makers at the Local. The FAAB can also meet independently to draft unanimous recommendations to the Business Agents. These recommendations are non-binding but must be replied to by the Business Agents. All recommendations will be added to the E-board Agenda.
Format of EBoard Meetings
The FAAB will provide the Business Agents and EBoard an agenda one week in advance of the meeting. At the meeting, the FAAB will lead, presenting its agenda to the Business Agents and EBoard, with the Business Agents responding to each agenda item. The EBoard will ask clarifying questions as needed. The focus of the meetings should be Union business (structure of Committees, onboarding of Stewards, applicability of Bylaws, decisions/actions of the Business Agents, etc.) While concerns with the day-to-day operation of Republic Airways are valid, these issues should be brought to the Business Agents for action prior to the meetings with the EBoard. If the FAAB feels the Business Agents decisions/actions aren’t in line with their expectations, the meeting with the EBoard is the proper place to air those concerns. At the conclusion of the FAAB agenda, the Business Agents will provide the FAAB and EBoard a status update on the state of the barn.
